There are Easier Ways to Save Money

We'd been in dire need of a new roof for a while.  So, this is summer, we got it done; what a pain in the butt!

We opted to save a few dollars by ripping off our own roofing.  Bad idea.  It was the worst three days of dirty, hot, sweaty, manual labor that I can remember for a long time.


Here is a picture of me discovery yet another layer of roof that needs to be pulled of (three in all).  This is when I first thought I might have made a mistake.

Day 3: Finally making some progress (and a big mess).

Here I am, so dirty and exhausted that I had to take these clothes off outside before going in the house to shower.

10 Year Anniversary Trip

He said:  We made it 10 years this October! To celebrate, we went on an excursion to Washington.

She said:  We got to leave the kids for almost 7 full days and just spend a days and nights with each other. 

She said: Picture of my hot husband in the cutest hat on the planet.

He said:  First thing: rent the ugliest car in the world.

She said:  Yeah, what he said.  We actually asked the attendant if this was the ugliest car they had.  Definitely not our style. 

He said:  We stayed at the Alderwood Resort: 

She said:  We stayed at the most quaint romantic resort right on a lake.  I seriously was in love the moment we pulled up.  This is by far my favorite place that we have ever stayed.  Now that I think about it, maybe it was a little TOO great.  Tommy gave me an surprise anniversary gift that will last forever ;). 

He said:  Next day, we drove along the east shore line of Olympic National Park. We did drive in to see Cushman lake. It was so beautiful.
She said.  The next day we stayed in bed as long as we wanted, got a couples massage and then hiked and drove up the Oregon Coast.  It was pure heaven on earth.  Why don't I live in Washington?

He said:  We took a ferry to Whidbey Island and drove to my parents' house. It's a beautiful house next to the ocean.
She said:  We ate at the yummiest Japanese restaurant with a baked pear and ginger ice cream dessert that I still have dreams about.  Then we ferried over to Tommy's parents beach house.  That is what dreams and ten year anniversaries are made of.

She said:  We rented bikes a rode along the coast then stopped at the beach for a photo shoot.  Did I mention we slept in again as long as we wanted?

He said:  After a few days, we took a ferry back to Seattle and flew back home. A very, very, fun getaway.

She said:  After days of the most relaxing, rejuvinating time with my sweet lover of tens years we stopped in Seattle took in some of the sights and then caught our plane back home to our little cutie pies, who were very happy to see us.

She said:  Can't wait to see what our twenty year anniversary holds in store for us.  Hawaii?? Greece??  Spain??  France??  Better start saving my dollars and babysitting favors :)
