Visiting the old house

It's been 3.5 years since we moved into our new house, but we recently had a chance to visit the neighbors who lived in the old house. It was trippy to walk through the old house. Tate and Hudson particularly were baffled at how small the house seemed to them.

The house and the storm

After months and months of construction and landscaping pergatory, things finally started shaping up at the end of August. I think it was the moment the sod got laid.

The landscapers left the first week of September and the house looked Sooo good.

Then, on Sept 8th, a massive wind storm hit Davis county. In addition to many smaller branches, one of the major branches of the sycamore tree broke off, hit the edge of the deck and landed on the garage.

It smashed a hold in the roof. One of the branches even broke through the ceiling of the garage.

I nearly cried that day. It was so frustrating. I spent the rest of the day hauling branches and debris from the yard.

We made an insurance claim. In fact, there was some silver lining. Our remodel did not include a new roof for the garage but we ended up replacing the roof on the garage.

Party Garage

Since moving into the house, we'd left the garage alone. We just used it for storage. Then last year, in what has become an infamous decision, Megan let the kids paint the walls of the garage; thinking that since we'd paint over it, it wouldn't be a big deal.

Back in December, we attempted to work on refinish the room. It was very difficult to remove the paint the kids put on (I get angry just thinking about it). Tate and I ran power and put the TV in there. Then we hooked up the gas line to it for heat.

Well, the garage has now become the premeir place for parties, get-togethers, and watching movies for all the kids' friends. There have already been a few party conflicts. I'm sure it's the privacy of the garage that has made it everyone's choice. I probably need to install cameras...

Reece is silly

We went to Cross E Ranch last week. As we arrived, Megan jokingly, said, "Grab your mask, shoes, coats, backpacks". Reece took her seriously. We didn't even notice it until we were already in the ranch that he had on the backpack. Dork.

The other day while I was working out, Reece asked me, "Dad, do you have a 6 pack?"

Me: "Probably Not"

Reece: "Well, I hope you at least get a 4 pack. or any kind of pack."

Halloween this year

Only the boys dressed up this year. Reece was a wizard. Gideon used the Gilly suit to be a swamp thing. It's something we already had so we loved that. And Tate had a really fun masquerade party at the house with his friends.

The kids did really well getting candy. It was probably the fact that they were out for several hours - they are now in prime trick-or-treating age.

Not to brag, but I did win my work's Halloween contest again (4th year in a row). I was the elevator. Our The elevator at our work has a silly sticker asking riders to face the corner. So I re-created that.

Sunday Pasttime

The girls have found at least one way to pass the time on Sundays; painting their face.

It's usually a clown like look but sometimes it includes trying to look like a domestic violence victim.
