If you are wondering what that sound is, it is our neighbors singing songs of praise in one accord.
When we moved into our house seven years ago the roof needed to be replaced and finally we slackers are ripping it off. (It's a bit overdue, I know.) We played chicken with mother nature for seven years and this year was the time to call it quits. Little did we know that mother nature wasn't done playing and gifted us with THE WETTEST spring in like 50 years. The roof sprung several leaks months before we were scheduled to start the roof.
We did the tear off this Saturday, and were giddy to find three layers (the top one and two underneath) It was fun to get a glimpse into what the house used to look like (I'm assuming they are the original shingles - 22 years for each layer).
Here's the current layer; (isn't she a beauty?)
Layer #2.
The original layer (we actually really like this layer. We think it's quaint).
