Marriage Dealbreaker?

Infidelity? Money Issues? No. It's container coverings.

Similar to the age-old battle of the toilet paper direction, over the top vs underneath, our raging debate is over whether to completely remove the container lid (you know, not the actual lid, but the plastic sealing that has to be unpealed from the container) or not.

Megan likes to only partially peel it back. Her reasoning is that when she's done, she only has to throw one thing away.

This drives me nuts. I think it should be completely taken it off because it gets in the way.

The worst part is she has indoctrinated our kids with this idea. Now Tate is doing the same thing.

Grrrrrrr.

All Gideon wants for Christmas...

This guy lost his two front teeth just in time for Christmas.

Nailing Halloween

Halloween was pretty good for us this year. Not only did we win the Ward Trunk or Treat with out Mario Ensemble, but I won funniest costume at work by dressing up as a co-worker.

Glorious Cheat Day

About 3 years ago, I tried to get a handle on my insatiable sugar addiction. I knew it was getting bad because everyday about 1PM, I would walk around the office and look for candy; any candy.

I'm kind of the health nut (no carbonation, no caffeinated drinks, no TV subscriptions, daily workouts, stand up desk, etc...), so I wanted to get a handle on it.

So, I started a rule to not eat sweets until after 5 PM. I didn't rule out sugar entirely becuase sugar is in everything. So, after 5PM everyday, I could eat ice cream, candy bars, etc... It was hard at first. At 1PM, I would start jonesing for a treat. Eventually, it worked and didn't crave it as much.

However, I did find that I would jones at 5 PM (more like 4:30 PMish). I'd get home and immediately eat and ice cream bar, then have more treats later that night. We reserved our best treats, like ice cream bar/sandwiches, for Family Home Evening night. On a couple occasions, I had eaten most of them by Monday night, which resulted in some very upset kids.

About 6 months ago (when I turned 40), I moved the time to 6 PM, but I felt like it still left too much time for me to binge.

So, a month ago, I decided to try a cheat day. It's definitely harder. I have to wait all week to finally have something. And yes, I sometimes binge a little.

The Adventure-Mobile

Our family likes going on adventures. When we purchased the car I don't think it had any idea what was in store for it: Mud, smashed crayons, vomit, snow shoes, climbing gear, door to door camping gear and many other unmentionables.  I am pretty sure, if given a choice, this poor car of ours would have picked a much quieter, more respectfully family to join.  But alas the car became ours and has become a slave to our adventure loving family.  A sampling of the tourture the car has had to endure:
