Watch out world this guy is one year older

Is it just me or is that a nine year old in the picture? A NINE YEAR OLD! When did I get old enough to have a nine year old. And the most genuine kind hearted nine year old you will ever meet. Tate celebrated his birthday this year with a bang at classic fun center. With no pictures to prove it (wish he knew a photographer :)). I am so dang stinking proud of this kid and the person that he is. I want to have my own talk show where I can just sit and talk about all the wonderful things that my son does and how he is going to change the world.

These are some of the things that I love about Tate

• He is the most real nine year old that you will ever meet.
• He has a heart that is 10 sizes to big for his chest. (I was watching some footage on Stephanie Nielson (if you don't know who I am talking about you live under a rock) and I looked behind me to see huge alligator tears rolling down Tate's cheeks)
• He makes me want to be a better person just so that I can feel worthy to be called his mother
• He is an awesome big brother, he rarely teases his younger sisters and goes out of his way to make sure that they are happy
• He is so mature beyond his years. He has the wisdom of a thirty year old.
• His testimony of Jesus Christ.
• How responsible he is (When I arrived late home today he had come home from school, left for scouts and left me a note to tell me where he was)
• His never ending quest to do what is right

I love this boy with all my heart and feel totally blessed to able to be in the presence of his spirit.

Don't feed the Animals

Gideon loves food. And he is always trying to get it.

One of his recent tactics is to crawl up to us and look cute (like a puppy). It's pretty hard to refuse.

When our kids get the camera

Our kids like to take our camera for periods of time.  Afterward, it is returned with a treasure trove of pictures.  Here's an example (compliments of our children);

Waiting for the Ponyo casting call

If you've never seen the movie Ponyo, you should.  It's a very cute show.

Anyway, I think Harper is the spitting image of Ponyo.  Judge for yourself;

Hudson attended a birthday party a few weeks ago where the invitation requested "White elephant gifts."

When I picked her up from school to take her to the party she asked what the present was. To which I replied "It is a chess set?"

Hudson :"What? Hayley is a girl, she won't like that."

Me: "Well, actually her mom requested that we bring a "white elephant" gift"

Hudson: "Can she paint it?"

Me: "No, its not actually an elephant. That is just what they call a present that you have laying around at home."

Hudson: "Is it stuffed?"

Me: "No, Hudsy. It is not an elephant. The type of gift is called a "white elephant", but it is not an actual elephant."

Hudson: "So, is it an elephant piggy bank then?"

Dear St George,

Thank you for being the awesome place that you are.  Thank you for the sweet house that we spent spring break at.  We thoroughly enjoyed being in the pool for 10 hours a day.  

 With the exception of lunch, we swam from 9:00 am to 7:00 pm.

 We can't forget how happy we were to spend time with our good friends, the Showalters.

 That was really funny when we all tried to stop the waterfall with our bodies.

 We were very impressed with your parks and enjoyed our time there as well, while the daddies went to Priesthood session.

 We maybe even thought it was a little funny when the mommies tried to torture us.

 We like the little cubbies in the house that made for great hiding places.

 And we were impressed with your hikes and dinosaur track fossils.
