And Shepherd's were watching over their flocks..

A year ago my friend Emily gave me the coolest present ever. It was a bag filled with a bunch of colored pieces of material that had been sewn into rectangles and elastics to go around them (Tate has one on in the picture below). Along with the material was a christmas program that has music and scriptures about the saviors birth. Last year we did the program with just our little family. This year we decided to add to the fun.
Many people have not heard the true christmas story, the one where the chubby ballerina from Judea comes to visit the babe and sprinkle cookie crumbs on his head. And maybe people don't realize that two angels appeared unto the shepherds. Because the Angels were both sassy red heads that *both* wanted to visit the shepherds. Yes, go back and check your bibles, *I am sure* that you have missed these great parts of the story.

Curtain Call

So, I debated for a while about taking Hudsy to the Nutcracker. She is only three years old after all and it is a really long ballet. Well, I found a shortened "kid friendly" production up in Ogden at the Egyptian theatre that didn't sound too bad. Plus I have been dying to start up this tradition from my childhood.

Last Saturday Hudsy and I put on our dresses, fixed up our hair, applied lip gloss and headed off to the ballet. She was so cute about going to the ballet she pranced down to our seats and leaned in close to me wrapped her arm through my and anxiously waited for the show to start. Up go the curtains and Hudsy gives we a wide eyed look. She watches intently as all the families arrive at the party and the kids are each given a toy from Herr Droselmeyer. By this point in time I am so in love with my girl I am bursting. "She loves it, she really loves it." "We are the same, we can do this every year and then bring Harps when she gets bigger" Oh this is just perfect, I think. That is when Hudsy leans over to me and whispers "WHEN IS THE MOVIE GOING TO START"

Oh well their is always 4 years from now :)

It's Lovely Weather for a HAY ride together with...

(ok, on the count of three Hudson and Harper don't look at the camera - perfect)

Ever year I gourge myself on Christmas Traditions, their is the Ogden Christmas Village, the hayride to see the lights in Layton Park, Temple Square, cookie making, and many others. I love traditions, I bask in their gloriousness and get quite bloated on their sweet goodness. Tommy, the lucky guy to marry me, patiently joins me on all my festivites. This is one such outing to Layton park to see the lights.

Look a picture of me. I do exist.

Tate takes his light watching very seriously. So serious in fact that he plopped himself down between two strangers so that he would have "the best view" of the show.
Then it's a quick pit stop for cookies and hot cocoa.
And a quick visit with the Pagan fat man. (sorry not a fan of santa.). Here is Tate invovled in a very important discussion with the rather small santa. I can just hear him pleading with Santa for a new puppy and a nintendo Wii. "come on santa, you gotta hook me up. I have hit a dead end with my mom on the whole Wii thing, you're my only hope."

And finally my favorite picture of the night, Harper giving Santa the stink eye. "Alright you bearded freak, I don't know who you are or what you want, but you keep your distance."

Then to top the night off Hudson turns to her daddy and says, "Oh, daddy can we do this again next Christmas time?"
I think I can actually hear her future husband gritting his teeth.

The Weather Outside is Frightful

.....but My Girls are SO Delightful

It is December in Utah and we finally got snow two days ago. Usually we get snow on Halloween, so this has been an odd winter to say the least. But hey, I am not complaining I have throughly enjoyed the longer fall this year. The kids however have been craving snow, Hudson especially. As soon as she saw their was enough snow on the ground she donned whatever snow clothes she could find and headed outside to the magical winter wonderland. Harper of course had to join. (anything Hudson can do, she can do better). Here are the girls enjoying the cold wet snow.

Dad's snow hat- check. Harper's sweater - check. Tate's snow pants (because she has outgrown hers from last year) - check and Tate's gloves - check
Opsie Harper fell over - can she get up again?
Maybe... Almost there...
Success :)
Seriously mom? Can you chill on the picture taking? It's just snow.
What is this stuff?
It is very cold, I don't know if I like it.

Hang on.... I can eat this stuff! Sweet.

If I get to see faces like this, I guess I can handle the snow

I love my sis

Do you know why I love my sis? Because she loves traditions just as much as I do. She called us last week to find out if we wanted to do the annual Christmas Village / Maple Garden trek.

Heck YA!

Let me just tell you, this is something that we have been doing since we were like 2 years old. Every year we would bundle up, go check out the little "houses" in Christmas village then head to Maple Garden for "picy beef" as Brenn would call it. This is back in the day when Maple Garden was where Toys R Us is now located. Anyone with me still, anyone? anyone?

Now the legacy continues with our children. And the best part about the night (besides fat santa telling me I should sit on his lap and then Harper wouldn't be scared of him (right! - you try that line with all the ladies?)) was when the battery on my camera died after I took about 4 pictures. So enjoy these few shots of my kiddos in "O" town. Sorry no baby Harper she was to busy taking in the sites, to have have her picture taken.

Tis the Season

Tonight we were at the store getting groceries and Tate pulled Tommy aside.  He had seen something at the store that he wanted to get Hudson for Christmas.  Yes, he wanted to buy it for her, as in, he took his measily $5 allowance that he gets each month and bought her some little play puppies for Christmas.  Because as Tate said "she will just be so excited to get these."  Then he decided he should get something for Harper as well and found her a little dolly, "because she likes to play mommy."  Is this kid for real?  It takes him months and months to save up for things that he wants to buy with his allowance and he is willing to just give that up for the love of his sisters.

Now I understand why we are constantly told become as little children.  Thanks for the lesson Tate, I hope to be just like you when I grow up.  You melt my heart.

Another Birthday

As of late, my blog has become the birthday blog. Today is no different. Today is my nephew Brendan's birthday. And since I don't spend as much time, as a should, with Brendan, I don't have a picture (wow should I put like 3 more commas in that sentence? - grammer is so not my thing)

Anyway! We Tripletts wish you a very happy birthday with lots of cake and cool presents.
