They dress alike, they talk alike...

After a few years of marriage, it dawned on my how much my mother and Megan are alike. Their mannerisms, personalities, propensities to worry...

What is funny is lately, they've been dressing alike. They both wore cardigans the couple months ago, but then again at Thanksgiving, they were virutally wearing the same outfit.

Retreat to Zions

This year, Megan's work retreat took us down to Zions, my favorite place. We took the younger kiddos this time; which was mostly fine.

Unfortunately, Tate was not able to make it again. He's missed the last 3 family trips which really bothers me. Hoping to get him on the next one.

Here are some of the highlights:

Hotel Breakfasts

Unfettered access to any breakfast delectable is a very special thing.

 Observation Point

I've actually never been to Observation point, so it was a welcome endeavor. The family got there just before sunset. Which was beautiful. However, it was completely pitch black about halfway out - and it got markedly colder. Brrrr.

Bumming Rides

In the same vain as other posts about Reece's uncanny ability to get people to do things for him, he seemed to be able to bum rides from every family member, including the 2nd littlest, Gideon.

The Ginger Gang

Hudson and Harper were able to reunite with their beloved Ginger friends, Titan and Dexter. There was much rejoicing.

Cold Hikes

Early November is really hit or miss in Southern Utah. Sometimes it can be really nice. Not so this time. It was cold. But the kids were troopers.

One-trip Wanda

Hudson, like her Mother, is extremely multiple-trips adverse.

Visiting Ancestors

Ever since doing a bit of geneaology, I've wanted to visit the graves of some our first ancestors to come to Utah. We made a detour to the city of Fairview to visit the graves of Lindsay Anderson Brady (the kids' great, great, great, great grandfather) and his daughter, Tranquilla Ann Stevens (the kids' great, great, great, grandmother). This was really special for me.

Another Halloween is in the books

It was a fairly eventful Halloween.

Jack-o-lanterns, Check.

Gravestones. Since was lawn was already dead (because we are seeding it in the spring) we decided to create a cemetery look. We created headstones for most of the kids.

Tate: Unfortunately, Tate was the victim of his busy schedule and wasn't able to get something put together.

Hudson: She did a group pirate costume with Summer. It turned out great. Tragically, there are no pictures.

Harper: Harper also did a group robber costume with her school friend, Gabe. Very funny

Gideon: We chose easy with Gideon and ordered an inflatable dinosaur outfit from Amazon.

Reece: Harper suggested he go as a kissing booth. At first, Reece resisted and she had to bribe him with some candy. But it turned to be a big hit. Everyone at school really liked it. In fact, he earned $3.50 at school.

Unfortunately, that night, while drink hot chocolate while Trick or Treating, some lady handed him a quarter to give him a smooch. He split the scalding drink all over his left hand. We had to treat it and wrap up his hand. Poor thing.

Tommy: I, of couse, killed it. A co-worker and I dressed as our 'bluified' company profile pictures. We won the costume contest - again. This time as 'most original'.
