Saturday night, Hudson ran a mile in 6:46. While this is impressive, it was especially meaningful to Hudson and I. Hudson has been attempting to run a mile in 7 minutes or less for over a year.
While she initially asked me to help her meet that goal, I took it upon myself to hold her to her committment. I made her run everynight, except Sunday and one other night of her choosing. This was not without a generous amount of screaming, yelling, complaining, crying, and knashing of teeth.
But in recent months, she really dug in and really started trying. Whenever she really tried hard and failed, it was very frustrating for Hudson. But she kept trying. She worked on her breathing and pacing. Before she got the 6:46 mile, her fastest mile was 7:14. She lasered in on it this last week and was determined to do it. And she did. I'm so proud of her!
