Safety First

So, one of the first things I did when we moved into this house was to put up a tire swing. We had the perfect tree for it; hanging over at an angle. I secured it with a thick rope thinking it would last for years - ;).

Well, after years of swinging, the rope snapped. We're glad nobody was hurt...badly. Our neighbor boy has a sore butt.

I don't want that to happen again so I upgraded to a chain. The only problem is the installation method is a little unsafe (my tallest ladder just doesn't quite make it).

Oh no! We had a zip line on a steel cable (it still makes an appearance once in a while). It was secured at the end with a nice, thick rope. While going down the zip line, the rope broke, dropping me about 6 feet face first between two rocky areas. I was fine, but darn rope!
