A little mid church bath

Tommy and I were visiting a Ward in Salem, Utah. "Where is Salem, Utah?" you may ask. Go google it. We had too.

We were checking out a house down in the area semi seriously and wanted to see what the locals were like. So here we are in this ward (which ended up being the wrong ward) in this neighborhood with this house that we maybe could buy but more than likely would not and the baby looks at me from across the Relief Society room with "the look." Yup, he is filling up his pants with a wonderful surprise for me. I give him a few minutes to make sure he has finished the job then scoop him up and head to the bathroom.
I get him all situated on the changing table, take off his pants and to my surprise he has poop all down the front of his legs. Awesome!
Now, I know that the majority of you mothers out their are nodding your heads thinking, "been there done that". I have a friend that had one of her twins have a blow out so bad it when up out of his clothes and all over her dress, in General Conference. GENERAL CONFERENCE, Yo! We are talking - the king daddy of all church gatherings.

But, anyway, I digress. Back to the bathroom....

It is at this point that I remember the wipes are in the church bag with Tommy in who knows what room. I turn to grab some paper towels from the bath room dispenser and whamo - empty!
I reclothe the poopalicious little dude and head out in search of another bathroom. No other bathroom but luckily the kitchen had some paper towels. We head back to the first bathroom and commence with the best part of being a mother - cleaning up diarrhea (second only to cleaning up puke). Little did I know I had a surprise waiting for me in the back as well. Yes, the poop had also gone up Gideon's backside, as well. I had severely underestimated what I was dealing with and didn't have enough paper towels to go round. I decided to cut my losses, toss the onesie in the garbage and just give the little dude a mid church sink bath. So, here I am in the middle of nowhere Utah, at a church of no one that I know, bathing my diarrhea clad baby in the bathroom sink. And of course at this point in time another women walks in, I just smile and nod like this is something we do every Sunday. I dry Gid off with my dress. I mean, what other option did I have?
I turn around and notice that we have left a nice puddle of poop on the changing table. Yes!
I fetch the onesie back out of the garbage can and wipe down the table.

Put Gideon back in what little clothes he has left with out poop on them (thank goodness for layers) and head back to Relief Society.

Now, I am thinking, I should have given someone the heads up to change out the garbage or maybe even taken it out myself. Good thing we decided not to buy the house. I don't think that we will be invited back anytime soon.

So glad to see that last line about deciding NOT to buy the house... Decided you could never leave our little corner of perfection, did you? :)

Is word verification smart? Because - I kid you not - the word I had to verify after my previous comment was "poolot" !

Bwahaha. This post made me giggle...partially because (like you said) I've been there. In fact, did I ever tell you about the time during Mark's 4th year of med school (when he did rotations each month in a new state) that I flew with 4 month old Noah to OR to visit Mark? Noah had a blowout in the airport right before catching our plane. Yup. It was up his back and into his socks. I stripped him down and he promptly began to pee straight up into the air (landing on his face). I sat him up and he barfed everywhere. All 3 orifices. I mopped up evidence, tossed the onsie, and bathed him in the sink - all the while laughing like a crazy person (coping mechanism?)...luckily we still caught our flight (barely). The joys...
