Strap on your mouse ears.

This year we decided to give the kids Disneyland for Christmas, as they have never been before.   The anticipation was thick as we set off on our 11 hour drive to the "happiest place on earth."  We knew we were dead meat when Harper asked if we were "almost there" in Nephi.  It turned out to be a really fun vacation for the kids and an eye opening experience into the human psyche for the parents.  Without further ado here are a the top highlights from our trip.
  • Megan selling one of her kidneys for us to be able to have lunch with FOUR princess.  (It actually was totally worth it).
  • Stopping at the Disney store in Orem beforehand and buying all the stuffed animals, sippy cups, t-shirts and mickey ears so we didn't have to blow the kids college fund buying them at the Park.
  • Going swimming in the first week of January, outside, at night.

  • Hudson getting selected for Jedi Training and fighting Darth Vader.  Tate wanted nothing to do with it, which we found a little peculiar.  But Hudson was all gung ho.  We were worried that it would be tough to get be picked and prepped her to jump up and down and look really excited.  We quickly realized that once she got picked by the color of her hair when all the other kids got called out by what they were wearing, she will always stand out in a crowd. (Lucky little girl)

  • After going to the haunted mansion, every ride we approached afterward, Tate and Hudson asked if it was scary.  We were pretty ruthless and didn't tell the kids what any of the rides were, we just got in line and asked them after if they liked them or not.  They pretty much didn't like any of the "big" attraction rides.
  • Going on the Roger Rabbit ride and trying to explain to the kids what Roger Rabbit is while waiting in line.  Not sure though if I even want to show them the movie.
  • Hudson riding the Tower of Terror. She says it was really fun and kept saying that she wanted to go on it again (but she was terrified when we were on the ride).

  • Harper asking after every ride if it was real or not (i.e. wanted to know if we really traveled to space with C3PO, or flew over California).
  •  Driving the kids so hard that they were falling asleep in our arms by the time we got back to the hotel each night.  The last night Hudson actually feel asleep on top of Tommy's shoulders and was bobbing off the sides.

  • Tate saving his daily snack allowance to purchase a video game at home.  Megan had the idea of giving the kids a "daily allowance" for them to blow on treats and sweets so they wouldn't bug us the whole time.  Tate quickly designed a plan to save all the money so he could purchase his Minecraft subscription.  Only problem was he kept bugging Hudson for bites of her treats or trying to con her into buying treats for him.  And sulking to the side when the girls were enjoying their 4th churro of the day.  All in all, I'm actually quite proud of him. I would have cracked after the first hour.

That is AWESOME! It looks like the trip was a huge success and something the kids will be talking about for a really long time.
