Yurts

Tommy has been wanting to take our family to stay in some yurts from quite some time.  We decided for a family goal this year we are going to go on one adventure a month.  The Yurt trip sounded like the perfect way to kickoff #triplettfamilyoneadvertureamonth2016.

Tommy described yurts to me as camping for sissies.  While I wouldn’t go that far, it was a very easy way to camp.  A heated room with two sets of bunk beds.  The kids absolutely loved it.  This is definitely a trip to add to our family traditions.

We showed up late afternoon on a Monday and the kids immediately changed into their snow clothes and hit the hills.

That night we tried out a recipe that i’ve seen floating around on pinterest, walking tacos.  We just opened up bags of chips threw some cooked meat and toppings on top and walah.  They were really tasty.  We jumped into our pajamas, enjoyed some tasty hot cocoa and played a bunch of games.  Yahtzee and tenzie were the two favorites.  But there were also a few rounds of chess, checkers and go fish.  The yurt was so cozy and warm and totally perfect to hang out together.

Since you can’t cook in the yurts, I had the bright idea of cooking breakfast in the crock pot over night.  Sadly, I found out that it’s not really overnight, it’s like four hours.  So, I had the awesome opportunity to wake up at four, to start the crockpot.  (The things I do for this family.)  It ended up working out well.  Breakfast was tasty and easy.

After breakfast we slapped on the snowshoes.  It was a brisk morning, so the kids got cold fast.  They loved the snow shoeing aspect not the frozen toes aspect. Sadly, we didn’t get a picture of all of us before Gideon freaked out and went back to the Yurt.

These three were such troopers.  Hudson’s toes were frozen but she refused to quit. She is an animal.

We took a path that dumped us out on East Lake.  It was pretty sweet to walk across the frozen lake.

Reece was the cutest little snow shoer.  I about died every time a caught a glimpse of him.

He only wanted to be held towards the end.  Tommy, also an animal.  The amount of times this guys has carried a kid/or multiple kids around on our adventures is numberless.  I think I’ll do one blog post just on that.

After the snowshoeing, we packed up our yurt and headed home.  Until next time.
