Contracts

I don't understand why my kids do this, but for some reason they like to make deals to pool their resources to buy things. And they always backfire.

The earlier ones used to Tate going in with Hudson to buy some Nintendo system like the Switch, the Wii, or whatever. They would agree to both earn money to buying it and then they'd both own it. Without fail, Hudson would contribute next to nothing, and Tate would get frustrated. And even after he bought it, Hudson would try to claim partial ownership. We kept telling him not to make these deals, but he'd do it again the next time he wanted to buy one.

The latest is the Florida contract. We are going to Harry Potter world in Florida next month and kids are try to save up for souvenir money. They made this agreement for everyone to take turns working the money chores (extra chores we offer for the kids to earn money). Everyone even signed it and everything.

Well, as always, people are dropping the ball. In fact, I think it's having the opposite effect, because their agreement states that if you just contribute $5 to the pool, you get a 4th of the total. It seems to be encouraging them to only contribute the minimum amount.

The kids are already getting upset at each other. Oh well, I tried to warn them.
