Robinhood

The boys auditioned and got parts in their school's play. It was Robinhood; based on the Disney cartoon.

Gideon played the captain of the guard & King Richard. Reece was skippy; the little bunny who has his birthday party ruined.  They both did a great job, but Gideon went way above and beyond.

To contribute to the play, I volunteered to make a set piece. I was asked to make treehouse that Robinhood and Little John were supposed to hang out in. But they wanted it to be in the shape of a mushroom. That's really all the instruction I received.

Then, one of the parents told me they had a play set that they wanted to remove and I could use the lumber for the set piece.

I thought this was great, so I re-constructed the playhouse into a hexagonal tower. Then I built the mushroom canopy from pvc and covered it with a tarp. I had to disconnect the pvc to get it in the door of the school gym.

I could tell from the expressions the moment I wheeled in the tower that it was NOT what they were expecting. I think they were expecting it to be much smaller.

It's extra funny because I built the 'Cave of Wonders' set for their previous play and I think it was way larger than they were expecting (again). I clearly have an issue keeping things into the right proportion.

But, we found a spot for it and it all worked out fine.
