Ah Vacation. No schedules, daddy all to ourselves and crazy shenanigans.
When I think back on my childhood it is not about what I was wearing or doing it was the vacations. I vividly remember trucking all of yellowstone with "Ranger Bob" (aka my dad). My dad transformed into a different person on vacation and we were mesmerized by his knowledge of all things gysers. I remember the swimming pool in St. George that was both indoors and outdoors. SOOO COOL!! But I think the best memory of all is of Jenny Lake circa 1986 -7ish. It was my birthday (we are ALWAYS on vacation on my birthday!) and as such I demanded that we go on a boat ride around the lake even with the ominous black clouds circling overhead. I tend to have a totalitarian attitude on my birthday. We boarded the boat (read: tiny dingy) and set off on our adventure. Needless to say it didn't end well: rain pouring down on us, everyone in the boat crying, and my mom clutching her purse (that she brought with her on the boat ride?) that just happened to have the camera, $500 in cash the deed to our house and the only copy of the Declaration of Independence. Luckily we all lived to tell the tale of this trip and we aren't marooned on an island somewhere making radios out of acorns. And now every year we celebrate Jenny Lake day!
It is these fond memories that I hope my children cultivated this last week as we "endured" over 30 hours in the car with them to give them a vacation experience. So over the next ten (or so) days I will amuse you with our top ten memories from our vacation to the Pacific Northwest and part of Canada. Starting with number one:
#1. Dad my belly feels funny
~ yup Tate puked in the car.

Was that inside/outside pool at the Holiday Inn? If so I loved that pool like none other. Good luck on your trip. We have had some serious run-ins with motion sickness in our day!
