Granite Peak

Well, we survived Granite Peak. The 6th tallest high point (highest peaks of each state) and the most difficult of the lower 48.

We got more than we bargained for. First, a failed "shortcut". Then, a boulder rolling onto my friend's leg, and then that same friend got lost and was eventually taken out by Search and Rescue via horse team.

The summit was extremely challenging. It pushed me to the max both mentally and physically (the physical wouldn't have been so bad if it hadn't been for the extra hiking attributed to the "shortcut"). I climbing was much more dangerous than usual. But we had ropes and harnesses and we made it down. I felt exhilarated when we finished the summit. Like we really conquered the peak.

Probably not going to do anything like that anytime soon.

However, it was probably the most beautiful, majestic hike I've done so far.

Here I am attempting to do a handstand at the summit, but too tired to get all the way up. Pathetic.

This is Ryan at the summit.
