The unexpected Kia family tour

This was quite an ordeal. 3 months ago, we decided it was time to get a new car for a couple reasons;

The Volvo is in pretty bad shape (that's a post for another time) and Tate is needing to use a car more and more often.

After a pretty exhaustive search and several test drives later, we settled on getting a 2020 Kia Telluride. It checked all the boxes and was as cheap as some of the 2-3 year old models we were already looking at. I kind of had a stigma that Kias were cheap cars but all the reviews about these were thumbs up.

The Wasatch Kia Dealer actually had one that matched all the features we wanted, but we'd heard they were pretty popular so we jumped on the chance and put $1,000 down to hold it for us.

This is where things get crazy.

Megan bought her Jeep new but that was before we had met. I have never bought a brand new car so I wasn't sure what to expect. We were told it would arrive at anytime, so we excitedly waited a week. After the first week, we called back and were told it was in an inland port in Montana but hadn't been released yet. We were offered a loaner until it came.

I drove up and got a 2020 Kia Sportage but was told to bring it back if we got too many miles. After 2 weeks, no new car. It became clear there was some type of issue.

So, I went back and got a Kia Optima. Again, this was a brand new car. I like this car.

Then I drove a Kia Forte. I was offered another Optima, but at this point, I wanted to make it fun by taking a tour of the Kia family. The Forte is like the downgraded cousin of the Optima.

Then, I got a Soul. It was pretty similar to the Forte, but totally not our style. Megan kept calling it the toaster car.

We were told that the cars were definitely going to be released soon but we were pretty skeptical, so we didn't get our hopes up too much. It had been nearly 3 months already.

During this time, school started and I've been taking the girls to school each morning. They liked me dropping them off each morning in a new car; except the Soul. This is their 'disappointed' faces.

But then!...We got a call that it had arrived! We drove back to Wasatch Kia. This was my fifth visit by now. I'm pretty familiar with everyone there. While it was kind of crazy unique thing, it was actually fun to try out all those Kias. They are actually pretty nice cars. And everyone at the dealership was super accommodating about the whole thing. My only regret was I didn't get to drive a Stinger.

Oh and we LOVE the car. It's amazing!
