Basically, we want to let the kids learn from the natural consequences of their actions.
It's led to sending Tate on train with no money or phone everyday since he was 14.
We have the kids ride dirty, encourage them to go places without parents, and make them pay for things themself.
But it's not all fun and games. There have been some consequences for our laissez-faire style.
There was the time Harper wrecked the ATV she was driving at Bear Lake.

Then there was the time I was nearly arrested for making Gideon walk home from school (for about a mile).

And the time Gideon decided to burn the paper in the kitchen sink.
Also, the other day, Megan gave permission to the kids while were gone to do some painting in the garage because we are going to be repainting it soon. When we returned home, the garage looked fine. However, the kids had done all the painting in their brand new clothers (purchased merely two days before).
